The best of NOLA

On a recent trip to New Orleans, I discovered so many new things. Probably because I sought them out working on what is going to be a fantastic story for an upcoming issue of Nashville Lifestyles magazine. Two things that I just have to share now for those who are planning a trip for summer vacay are where to stay and the ultimate place to eat while you're there. Keep in mind that there are many choices (I'm saving several for the NL feature). But, these two rec's just cannot wait:

The glorious balcony from room 212, Omni Royal Orleans.
If you want accommodations with French flair, historical architecture and modern convenience, there isn't a better choice than the Omni Royal Orleans. With it's fantastic location, expansive balconies overlooking gorgeous streets and superior concierge-- this is the place to book. What I loved most about our stay (aside from the balcony off of our room and the Sunday brunch) was the close proximity to the action and the street access from the fab bar in their famous Rib Room restaurant. For an even better view, we could just pop upstairs to the rooftop pool deck where the entire city is on display. In NOLA, this is a rare thing to find, especially on so many levels.

Omni Royal Orleans.. set on the most fashionable corner in New Orleans.
Another must visit spot is Restaurant R'Evolution. This isn't one of the mainstays, but a newer place that fully captures every culinary vision that reflects the 'new' New Orleans spirit. Scrumptious gumbos and oysters, Coq au Vin and a to-die-for ending presentation of traditional sweets are all part of the package. I was lucky enough to get to tour the kitchen thanks to my husband's coaxing of our server and his friendly connection to the chef. It was impeccable! The decor was gorgeous and the wine cellar  had me swooning. If you are planning a visit to New Orleans, do not miss the opportunity to stop here as you eat your way through the city.
